In our last issue, Holistic Living News interviewed Ralph Zuranski of the “Lance Alworth
Family Fitness Centers” who was organizing a holistic health mini-seminar series at the Point Loma facility.
The purpose of these seminars was to educate Family Fitness members (and the general public) about different aspects of holistic health care so they
could make better decisions concerning their own health care programs. Ralph was chosen by the Lance Alworth organization to be a 'holistic guinea pig' and personally experience the benefits or
drawbacks of several modes of treatment by local holistic health practitioners.
HLN: Ralph, what kind of response did you get to the seminar program at your facility?
RZ: Most of the seminars were well attended, and those who participated said they appreciated the opportunity to learn about some of
the specific kids of holistic health from qualified practitioners.
HLN: Are any more seminars scheduled at this time?
RZ: Our next seminar program will be in conjunction with the Tennis Challenge of Balance, a unique tennis tournament being
held June 20-22. The seminar speakers will be available at different times during the weekend to answer questions about holistic approaches to improving athletic performance. Those who attend will have the
opportunity to meet these local holistic health practitioners on an informal basis.
HLN: Is the Tennis Challenge of Balance different from other tennis tournaments?
RZ: Yes. There will be a special division where the participants will be required to use only forehands or two-handed strokes. These
strokes help to balance both sides of the body and integrate both hemispheres of the brain. The competition in this Challenge of Balance will demonstrate the benefits of using strokes which
accentuate the natural strengthening patterns of the body.
HLN: How have you been faring in the role of “Holistic Guinea Pig?”
RZ: I have learned a lot, but more importantly, I have experienced an amazing transformation in my capacity to enjoy life, and my
athletic performance has improved as a result.
HLN: What were the specific holistic health treatments that you experienced?
RZ: I am nearing completion of a total homeopathic cleansing program under the supervision of Dr. Ray Brown. By ingesting certain
homeopathic remedies, the plaque, cholesterol, and general 'crud' are being cleaned out of my arteries, veins, and brain. (See Oct./Nov. '79 issue of HLN for a discussion of homeopathy and homeopathic
remedies.) HLN:
How long does the cleansing program take?
RZ: I have been on it for about two months and am now entering the final stages.
HLN: Can the results be measured in your body?
RZ: According to blood, urine, and sputum analysis, the levels of lead, carbon monoxide, fluoride, and sulphur in my system were
substantially lowered, and deficiencies in iron and calcium were corrected. Also, the functioning of my liver, thymus, nervous system, and pineal and adrenal glands was greatly improved. My perception is
clearer, my memory is better, and I have much more energy.
HLN: Have you tried anything else besides homeopathy?
RZ: Yes. Spinal Stressology is a new technique in the field of chiropractic which deals with the spine and sacrum as an
integrated system. The balance of this system is necessary for the effective functioning of the body and brain.
Spinal Stressology really helped me overcome the skeletal problems that have plagued me ever since I was involved in a rear
end collision thirteen years ago. After two weeks of treatments my spine returned to normal and the pain and limitations of movement completely disappeared. I can't describe how much stronger I feel.
Dr. Chris Weston, one of thirty-one
certified spinal stressologists in the country, took x-rays of my sacrum, spine, and neck. By measuring the angles of the joints and their distance of displacement from the norm, he was able to
determine the total percentage of deviation, the resulting loss of energy, the degree of disability, the specific techniques and number of visits required to rectify the problem, and the degree of health that
could be expected after completion of the treatment.
Dr. Weston discussed with me which exercise machines I could use to help correct my particular problems. He accurately diagnosed the numerous back ailment I had
suffered from. After his treatments, I felt better and more coordinated. My tennis game has improved tremendously!
HLN: Are you involved in any other forms of holistic health treatments?
RZ: I am also taking a series of oxygenated colon therapy treatments on the most sophisticated equipment available. An incredible
amount of undigested, decayed food continues to be washed out of my colon - even after eight treatments. I will be able to give you a better report when my therapy is completed.
HLN: Thank you, Ralph.
Well folks, will the 'holistic guinea pig' survive and eventually turn into a cleansed and purified 'Super-Ralph'? Tune in
next issue to find out. Or call him 7- 10 a.m. weekdays at the Pt. Loma Family Fitness Center. |
