TECHNICIAN INFORMATION

The following are instructions that should be given to prospective patients before they come to the office for testing:

  1. No oils, creams, perfume, after shave, etc. should be worn.

  2. The patient should be clean and preferably have taken a bath before coming to the office.

  3. No coffee, alcohol or tobacco should be taken within 24 hours the test.

  4. All jewelry, watches, hearing aids, etc., anything that uses a battery, should not be worn on the body to insure accurate testing.

  5. No medications should be taken within 12 hours of the testing time, if possible.

The following are instructions for the technicians:

  1. Women who are pregnant should not be tested.

  2. Measurements should only be carried out on points with healthy, intact skin. If the skin is sweaty, dry it off.

  3. Latex gloves should always be worn. The reason is to insulate you from the patient's energy field so that the readings will be accurate.

  4. The black, insulated, plastic probe shaft is the only part that should be touched by the technician. The brass probe tip should only contact the skin of the point being tested. The shaft of the probe should not touch any part of the body while the tip is in contact with the point being tested.

  5. This is very important when you are testing toes that are squished together.

  6. The point to be tested should always be dampened with the sponge bottle that is included with the accessories. Adequate moisture is very important for accurate readings with a minimum of pressure.

  7. Two 4 X 4 inch moistened gauzes should be wrapped tight around the Hand Cylinder.

  8. Ask if any medications or injections have been taken within the last 6 weeks, including over-the-counter drugs. Cortisone or prednisone received regularly can cause measurements to appear normal, but in actuality the patient is very ill.

The techniques used in testing are very important. To begin with, you will be testing the Control Measurement Points (CMP) on the fingers and toes of the left and right sides of the body, that are master points of the different organ meridian systems. The measurement points are small circular areas usually 2 - 3 mm in diameter, 2 - 3 mm in depth, and found at the bone angles. They are used because of the definite difference in skin resistance with the surrounding tissue. Some are located on acupuncture points, while others have been discovered by Dr. Voll through years of research and testing.

Bend the fingers and toes so that the joints where the points are located is exposed. The clearer your view of the testing area, the easier it is to locate the point. The procedure for holding the probe when testing is to hold it just like a pen at a 45 degree angle to the

patients skin surface. With firm pressure, compress the skin to the degree that the electrical resistance is constant.

Use a pillow to support the patients limb. Use your hand, the pillow and anything that will give the hand holding the testing probe permanent support. You should be moving the tip of the probe just a few fractions of an inch.

NOTE: ONLY APPLY ENOUGH PRESSURE TO INSURE THE READING STAYS CONSTANT OR GRADUALLY DECLINES. ONCE YOU FIND THE POINT, MAKE SURE YOU CAN ACCURATELY REPRODUCE THE WEE-WEE SOUND.

If the Synchrodyne plays a musical tune while testing the point, you are pressing too hard or easy. Your pressure is not constant. If the pressure is too great, irritation of the point will occur, causing artificially high readings, as the point becomes hypersensitive. When

this happens, allow 2 - 3 minutes for recovery. If a repeated reading is needed on the same point, it will require less pressure to achieve an accurate maximum value. Any discomfort associated with testing is an indication of malfunction of the respective organ system. Usually, the pain will decrease as the body heals.
