Cancer Threatened Boyd’s Life
In the prime of his life, Boyd came down with cancer, specifically lymphoma, in 1974. The doctors said it had been
developing for many years and was in danger of infecting the spleen. Death was calling, a song he did not want to hear or sing.
Radiation and Chemotherapy Controlled the Cancer
For sixty days his groin and stomach areas were exposed to intense radiation. After two weeks off, he received another sixty treatments. Over the next thirty days, the doctors administered four chemotherapy
treatments. Finally, the cancer was under control.
Impotence Occurred Overnight
Unfortunately, Boyd was fated to suffer more health challenges. Almost overnight he became impotent. Peronie’s disease
(circulatory system of the penis fills with plaque and penis bends sharply, making sex impossible) reared its ugly head. Of course, the doctors said radiation and chemotherapy had nothing to do with the impotence. There was no
cure.
